Product Description

K-Lines Hellenic Cruises:  A sixteen-page brochure from 1975 featuring photos, deck plans, sample cabin lay-outs, and itineraries for K-Lines' fleet of three rehabbed liners.

First up is ORION which K-Lines promoted as "the most beautifully appointed vessel in the Aegean."  There is a portrait of the handsome ship along with a few other photos, plus color-coded plans of five decks, five sample cabin lay-outs, and rates in U.S. currency. The ORION was built by the Italians in 1952 as war reparations for Greece. She served many masters as ACHILLEUS before arriving at K-Line  In the middle of this 1975 season she was impaled on a rock.  It took two weeks to get her off and ORION did not return to service until six months later.  Many other owners were in her future and she wasn't broken up until 2005.

Vessel #2 is GALAXY, converted in 1969 from the Irish Sea passenger ship SCOTTISH COAST of 1957.  A portrait shows off rugged lines made for colder climates than the Mediterranean.  Besides several interior photos, there are color-coded plans of five decks, five sample cabin lay-outs, and rates.  GALAXY sailed until the mid-1980s.

Last up is KENTAVROS, shown here in her finally season before lay-up and eventual scrapping.  Her handsome lines disguise the fact that she started off in 1941 as the USS BARNEGAT, a seaplane tender.  K-Line purchased her in 1961.  Besides several interior photos, there are plans of five decks, lay-outs of nine sample cabins, and rates.
