But his models are far rarer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe PRESIDENT HOOVER is crafted out of balsa wood, thread, and Oursler's steady hand for sketching in windows, doors, and skylights. According to his friend Jack Shaum, the lifeboats and a few bits of deck machinery were the only pieces purchased while the rest was made by Oursler.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn December 11, 1937, while taking a new route between Yokohama and Manila because of the war in Shanghai, the PRESIDENT HOOVER ran aground off Hoishoto Island, a tiny volcanic outcropping.  Passengers were landed on the island and then eventually saved.  Despite efforts to salvage her, the PRESIDENT HOOVER cracked amidships and had to be dismantled on site.  \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eExcellent
