She sailed from England to Nigeria until 1974.  For a short time she was a floating office and rec center for a construction company in Saudi Arabia.  But starting in 1979 she was laid up, a time capsule if you will, still containing much of her Elder Dempster fittings.  She stayed in laid-up from 1979 to 2001, an amazing twenty-two years, almost as long as she actually sailed.
