Product Description

Union-Castle Line - From 1960, a deluxe interiors brochure in color for the WINDSOR CASTLE.  The ship was brand new when these images were taken.

The twenty-eight page brochure features a deck-by-deck exploration of First and Tourist classes.  Large color photos show off public rooms and cabins decorated in the muted pastels and flowery prints so favored by the Brits in the post-war era.  All the major rooms for both classes are shown, along with a good selection of cabin types.  

U-C bragged about the spaciousness of their newest vessel:  "You could drive a Rolls Royce with plenty of room each side down most of the deck promenades, and could turn it comfortably on the Games Deck.  But of course there is a garage below for your Rolls Royce."  
   
Forty-five years after this brochure was published, the WINDSOR CASTLE arrived at Alang for demolition.  Decades of serving as an accommodation ship after her Union-Castle career meant that many of the interiors shown here were still intact when the cutting torches attacked.
