Cunard Line & Dominion Line - From circa 1907, a vintage scrapbook album with Cunard, Dominion Line, and European travel ephemera. The 11" by 14" album has a leather binding and thirty pages, twenty of which have glued-on souvenirs..

The album was complied by Ida Mitchell of Littleton, NH. Ida and her husband, the Rev. W.H. Mitchell, sailed frequently from Boston to the United Kingdom beginning in 1899. Ida collected passenger lists, ships' logs, menus, pictures, and sailing schedules to be cut up and glued into this scrapbook. Mrs. Mitchell also saved any and all receipts, providing us today with a fascinating glimpse at the artistry of long-ago graphic artists.

From examining the ephemera, I can see the Mitchells sailed in 1899 on Dominion Line's NEW ENGLAND (1898), 1901 on the COMMONWEALTH (1900), and again on the COMMONWEALTH in 1903 along with the CANADA (1896). They switched over to Cunard in 1905 where they sailed on IVERNIA (1900) and ion SAXONIA in 1907.
