Around the perimeter are four \"fiddles\" that slide out and upwards to provide a lip to the table and a barrier for sliding dishes in rough seas. The square base is covered with the original black Bakelite-type covering that has withstood decades of kicking and sliding by diners' shoes. The base is outlined in the original silver-nickel trim that shines up beautifully. There are two bolt holes for attaching the table to the floor. The table is symmetrical - 29.5\" tall by 29.5\" wide by 29'5\" long.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe fiddles are especially interesting as the original ninety-year old hardware still works without an issue. Each fiddle folds out and then upward, lastly sliding downward into a pocket. Little indented buttons keep the wood in place. My hat's off to the long-ago British manufacturer who made the hardware as each one still works perfectly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlease note that I have used A.I. to remove distracting
