Afterwards they provided excellent service for 216 all-First Class passengers. When passenger loads to the Canal Zone slumped in the late 1950s, the PANAMA was sold to American President Lines to become their PRESIDENT HOOVER.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlthough the schedule in here runs through October of 1961, the end came in April of that year when the U.S. Government dropped support for the Panama Canal sailings.
