I believe it to be from November 1946 when the ship returned to service after valiant troopship duties. The ship is dressed out indicating this probably was the return leg of her post-war maiden voyage.

The captain is blowing the ship's two steam whistles. Not many passengers are on deck - either too early or too cold. A shell door is open in anticipation of arrival and three crew are staring out.

The metallized wood frame measures 17.5" by 25.5". The photo comes from the collection of Frank Braynard who saved so many great maritime relics during his long life. He wrote his name in his distinction handwriting on back.
