1902 to replace the aging CITY OF ROME.  The COLUMBIA'S three funnels gave her a modern look in an era when passengers often chose their ships based on the number of stacks.  During WW1 she was an armed merchant cruiser and returned to civilian service in 1919, the only ship that survived in Anchor's North Atlantic fleet.  She sailed on for Anchor until 1926. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eFair
