AMERICA: 1940 - Enormous cruise deck plan & separate cruise brochure 1940

Product Description

United States Lines - A 1940 cruise plan that opens to six pages and a massive 18" by 48" for the new AMERICA.

While planned for the transatlantic run, the "European conflict" convinced USL to keep their new flagship sailing in local waters. Nine decks are shown in a large scale so you can appreciate all the little details. Since this is a cruise plan, both First and Cabin classes are included.

Besides a big portrait of the handsome ship, half-tone photos show the Promenade Deck, Smoking Room, Dining Room, and Ballroom. These lovely rooms were designed by same firm that did the interiors on the S.S. UNITED STATES.

Also included is a fold-out 18" by 27" cruise brochure for both the AMERICA and older sisters MANHATTAN and WASHINGTON. The ships sailed a New York to San Francisco route via the Panama Canal with an occasional diversion into the Caribbean.

But soon war duty called and in early 1941 the ships were taken out of civilian service for the "duration".
