Product Description

French Line: A fold-out (25" by 31") deck plan of LA SAVOIE dated November 1925.

Just a few years earlier First and Second classes had been combined, creating the expansive Cabin Class shown here. The plan is from the Frank Braynard Collection.

Three decks are shown on the express steamer. Unseen is a large Steerage class somewhere down below. The cabin types are color-coded with purple indicating accommodations with that luxury feature of the 20th century, a private bathroom. Notice the space taken up by the engine casing down on Main Deck. Squeezed onto each side are tiny water closets, accessible via narrow passageways. Finding an empty stall would be like trying to find an unoccupied toilet at a New Jersey Turnpike rest stop, although hopefully cleaner.
