Product Description

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines - Two brochures from the 1960s for the SAKURA MARU of 1962.

A fold-out (18" by 19") plans shows four decks in color-coded detail covering both Cabin and Economy classes. Besides are large portrait at sea, b&w photos show the Marine Verandah, Library, Cocktail Lounge, the Cabin Class Foyer, a suite day room, and a Cabin Class stateroom.

A second fold-out (15" by 16") brochure features color interior photos, rates, and a route map. Images show the Bar, Nursery, Dining Room, and three different cabins. Also included a sample cabin lay-outs.

The ship initially sailed for the Japan Industry Floating Fair Association as a port-to-port trade show. Soon Mitsui O.S.K. leased her and upgraded passenger accommodations for service between Asia and the West Coast of the U.S. In 1971 she moved out of the fleet and by the 1980s she was sailing for the Chinese as ZHI LUO LAN.
