ASTURIAS: 1926 - Brochure & separate deck plan for 1935 cruises

Product Description

Royal Mail Line - A twofer for the ASTURIAS, Royal Mail's elegant motorship for the Southampton-La Plata route.

In the summer of 1935, Royal Mail sent the ASTURIAS on seven Mediterranean cruises in July and August. A twenty-four page brochures features page-sized b&w photos of destinations. Royal Mail bragged about the ship. "Her sumptuous though refined apartments conform to the highest order of the shipbuilder's art." I doubt you'll find the word "conform" in any modern brochure, unless it is referring to safety standards.

In the back are two interior photos to back up the claim - the spacious Lounge with its tall Venetian windows, and the Dining Saloon, done up in French Empire style.

Tucked into the brochure is a large (27" by 36") deck plan. Seven decks are shown in detail, all named in typical Royal Mail reverse style with A Deck being the lowest and rising up through F Deck. The plan also includes itineraries and rates.
