The tray is back-marked with the Christofle logo, four hallmarks, and a series of numbers, the significance of which I am unsure.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eIn Louis-Rene Vian's seminal \"Arts Decoratifs a Bord des Paquebots Francaise 1880-1960\", there is a photograph of a similar \"Contour\" pattern tray recovered from the wreck of the CHAMPLAIN which was sunk in 1940. The relic was on display at the now-shuttered Christofle Museum in Paris.
