The 8.5" long spreader features the T.K.K. fan logo with Japanese characters on the handle with the English name, Oriental S.S. Co., underneath. A handsome abstract pattern surrounds the perimeter of the blade. On back are the initials of Sheffield silversmith Walker & Hall with a date code from the early 20th century.

The company's flagship, the SHINYO MARY of 1911, along with sisters CHIYO MARU and TENYO MARU, sailed trans-Pacific, linking San Francisco with Yokohama. The company also sailed from Japan to London via the Suez Canal. N.Y.K. Line absorbed T.K.K. in the 1920s.
