FULVIA: 1949 - Costa brochure w/ interiors & plans - sank & burned in 1970

Product Description

Costa Line: A sixteen-page introductory brochure for Costa's FULVIA, formerly Norwegian American Line's OSLOFJORD.

Costa planned a great future for their "cruising palazzo"; instead she burned and sank after only seven months on the job .

Printed in July of 1969, the brochure opens to a color FULVIA portrait with Costa's yellow and blue funnel livery airbrushed on. Look closely at the sixteen ship photos and you can make out NAL markings, such as in the dining room view with NAL china front and center.

From December 1969 to May 1970 the ship sailed a weekly Caribbean route out of San Juan, shown on a route map, itinerary, and destination photos. In back are six decks' worth of plans.

Alas, the FULVIA wasn't long for this earth, at least the above-water part. She burned with over 700 passengers onboard in July of 1970 off the Canary Islands, sinking shortly thereafter. Fortunately there were no fatalities.
