CAP FINISTERRE: 1911 - Color-coded full ship deck plan from 1912

Product Description

Hamburg-Sud - A large (27" by 36") deck plan of the CAP FINISTERRE, Hamburg Sud's elegant Hamburg to La Plata liner of 1911. The plan is dated January 1912, just a month after the ship's maiden voyage.

Six decks are shown in detail covering First, Second, and Third classes. Like so many flagships, most of the liner was given over to First with the other classes smooshed into the bow and stern.

A long ago passenger has written in Spanish red ink notes about upcoming voyages. They were sailing on April 10, 1913 and returning on March 26, 1914. I like this passenger's style as they have circled two deluxe suites on Upper Deck, each with a bedroom, living room, and private bath.

Sadly, the CAP FINISTERRE did not sail long for its original owner. In August 1914 she was laid up in Hamburg and after WW1 was given to the Japanese as reparations. She sailed as Toyo Kisen KK's TAIYO MARU throughout the 1920s and 30s. She was lost in 1942 when sunk by an American sub.

Fair condition with wear.
