Various: pre-war - 1934 USL "American Way to Europe" fleet brochure

Product Description

United States Lines: A twelve-page fleet brochure from 1934 promoting "the American way to Europe."

Since booze was once again allowed on American flagged ships, USL wanted to regain their share of transatlantic business by appealing patriotically to passengers to go "the American way, of course."

An intro page shows photos of the fleet followed by a two page spread on each ship with photos. Views from the LEVIATHAN include the interesting Club Leviathan, Dining Room, and two plush cabins.

For the new cabin liners MANHATTAN and WASHINGTON pictures include the Lounge, Indoor Swimming Pool, and 2 cabins.

The "535" ships, PRESIDENT HARDING and PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT, show older decor in the Dining Room, Lounge, Smoking Room, and Writing Room.

The combo ships get photos of their Dining Room, Lounge, and a cabin. USL promised passengers that "you will learn that these ships offer everything any ship can offer plus the American standard of living." Plus nice deco cover graphics.
