Various: pre-war - 1930s Panama Pacific deluxe interiors brochure

Product Description

Panama Pacific Line: A deluxe, twenty-four page brochure from the early 1930s showcasing Panama Pacific's coast-to-coast service via the Panama Canal.

The covers are a rich-feeling textured stock and each of the glossy pages inside features sea-foam green deco-ish lines. Panama Pacific operated three new liners - PENNSYLVANIA, VIRGINA, and CALIFORNIA.

In a first for American companies, the interior decor was based on home-grown traditions and not slavish copies of dusty European palaces. Large b&w photographs, unidentified as to vessel, shown exterior and interior views. The opening image shows one of the ship being launched while the second is of a liner dressed out in flag.

Interior pics from First Class show the Lounge, Smoking Room, Dining Saloon, Promenade Deck, Verandah Cafe, Library, and a stateroom. Tourist Class views include the Lounge, Dining-Room, Smoking Room, and a cabin.

Just a few years later, all of this Williamsburg-esque design was ripped out and replaced by Carmen Miranda Tropical when Moore McCormack turned the vessels into the BRAZIL, ARGENTINA, and URUGUAY.

Very good condition with light cover discoloration.
