UNITED STATES: 1952 - Sturdy canvas bag made onboard

Product Description

United States Lines:  A large (20” by 48”) canvas bag from the S.S. UNITED STATES, one of the many items Nautiques founder Leon Jackson removed from the ship after the 1984 auction.

Judging by the heavy stitching, the bag was made in the onboard upholstery shop.  On one end is sewn a strong handle while brass grommets are ready for a rope tie on the other.  Written in magic marker on one side is “C-191”, perhaps indicating a storage locker.  The bag appears so well constructed that you could haul a body in it, not that I’d recommend it.

Excellent condition as I don’t think the bag has ever been used.
