{"product_id":"sierra-1900-1928-deck-plan-from-near-the-end","title":"SIERRA: 1900 - 1928 Deck plan from near the end","description":"\u003cp\u003eMatson Lines:  A fold-out deck plan (17\" by 27\") dated 1928, soon after this aging liner was incorporated into the Matson fleet.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThree decks are shown.  The best accommodations were up top on Promenade Deck with entrances directly from the deck.  The First Class Smoking Room and Social Hall were also up here.  Down a deck was a large Dining Saloon with shared tables and more cabins near the bow.  Aft of this were Second Class cabins, Social Hall, and Smoking Room.  On Main Deck the Second Class Dining Saloon was crowded in with cabins around it.  Towards the bow were \"Intermediate First Class\" staterooms. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePrevious she had sailed for partner Oceanic Steamship Company and was placed by Matson on her old San Francisco-Sydney route.  As a young filly of a ship in 1900, the SIERRA had broken the speed record on the route. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBut that was then.  In 1928 the SIERRA was just marking time until the shiny new MARIPOSA and MONTEREY came along in 1932.  A portrait shows the SIERRA with one funnel as her second had been removed in 1915.  After WW1 transport duties, she was sold first to a cargo company as a freighter, and then to Polish American Navigation as an immigrant carrier.  Oceanic took her back in 1923, Matson painted on their name in 1926, and finally in 1932 the old gal was laid up.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eVery  good condition. \u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"FR","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53110720561433,"sku":null,"price":65.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/2236\/1411\/files\/5043.jpg?v=1788623854","url":"https:\/\/nautiques.net\/products\/sierra-1900-1928-deck-plan-from-near-the-end","provider":"Nautiques","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
