Product Description
Grace Line: A fold-out (23" by 30") deck plan from the mid-1930s for the SANTA ROSA, SANTA PAULA, SANTA ELENA and SANTA LUCIA. The first three sisters were sailing the intercoastal route while the fourth sister, SANTA LUCIA, was sent to South America in search of passengers.

Half-tone photos, unidentified as to ship, show the Dining Room, Outdoor Swimming Pool, The Club, Promenade Deck, Georgian Living Room, Library, Gymnasium, Main Staircase, and a plush cabin.

Four decks are shown with color-coding and lots of detail including furniture placement. Four sample cabin layouts are included.

Notice that five servant's cabins are included in the center of B Deck. Times change and after WW2 they did not return. Speaking of not returning, two of these four William Francis Gibbs' designed liners were lost during the war. SANTA LUCIA was torpedoed and sunk off Algiers in November 1942. SANTA ELENA was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean almost exactly a year later. It was during that action that Matson Line's MONTEREY bravely stood by the sinking liner and picked up 1700 Canadian troops, despite the risk of another U-boat attack.
