A substitute, the Midships Bar, was carved out of the Long Gallery. It was decorated in tones of orange, green, and yellow, a combination of colors whose fifteen minutes of fame expired long ago. These plans show the size as the decks go on and on, and anyone who has ever visited the QUEEN MARY knows it is quite the hike from bow to stern. The plans are detailed and color coded.

One of those big suites on Main Deck looks like just the ticket for me. But cocktail hour would be a disappointment. A few years earlier the deco-delightful Observation Lounge was cleaved off of First and given over to the ruffians of Tourist Class. A substitute, the Midships Bar, was carved out of the Long Gallery. It was decorated in tones of orange, green, and yellow, a combination of colors whose fifteen minutes of fame expired long ago.
