PRINCESS PATRICIA: 1948 - Alaska cruises w/ plans & interiors 1965

Product Description

Canadian Pacific Line: A fold-out (18" by 24") brochure from 1965 promoting Alaska cruises on the fabled PRINCESS PATRICIA, a stodgy-looking coastal steamer that surprisingly was the namesake for "Princess" in Princess Cruises.

Inside are color-coded plans covering four decks, rates, and itineraries and eleven ship photos showing veneered interiors and sunny decks.

The ship was launched after WW2 to service the "triangle route" - Vancouver-Victoria-Seattle. In 1959 the PRINCESS PAT was converted for Alaskan cruise service.

It was around the time of this brochure that an entrepreneur leased the winter-idled vessel for cruises out of Los Angeles. The new company, Princess Cruises, took its name from their leased ship and soon became such a hit that P&O bought them out in the early 1970s. The rest is history.
