The watchman is up in the crow's nest, officers are out on the bridge wings, and a sailor is raising a signal flag. Third Class passengers are bundled up against the wind on the foredeck, First Class passengers are strolling the Promenade Deck, and at the stern a knot of Second Class passengers is taking in the air. In the distant off the LUSITANIA'S bow is a three mast sailing ship representing the old romantic ways of the sea which were quickly being replaced by coal-fired technology.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePansing is best known for his sailing ship paintings while his steamship work came later in his life.  This agency portrait was probably done around the time of the ship's 1907 maiden voyage. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe print, a lithograph on illustration board, is in good condition but moderately soiled with several white marks on in the surrounding sky, glue marks on the left side, and some small holes along the top left.
