LISMORIA & LAURENTIA - 1950s deck plan & interiors brochure

Product Description

Donaldson Line:  A fold-out (16" by 18") interiors/deck plan brochure from the 1950s for the LAURENTIA and LISMORIA, two converted WW2 Victory ships that carried 55 passengers in one class.  The ships sailed the Glasgow-Montreal route.

Large color photos show the Main Lounge, Dining Room, Drawing Room/Library, and two different cabins.  Deck plans show Promenade Deck which contained the Lounge, Drawing Room/Library, and ten cabins; and Main Deck which housed the Dining Room and sixteen more cabins.

A passenger account written about these ships in the early 1960s noted that his travel agent said, "that these two ships were very popular (with older people particularly because they are so comfortable, have so few stairs - all activities on two decks, and the food is so good) and that I was very lucky to get reservations."

Donaldson Line dropped its sagging passenger business in 1966 and both ships were scrapped in 1967.

Very good condition.
