CAMBODGE: 1953 - Tissue deck plan w/ interiors

Product Description
Messageries Maritimes: A fold-out (24" by 29") tissue deck plan with interior photos of the CAMBODGE, the second of a trio of ships M.M. launched in the early 1950s for their Marseilles-Yokohama route.

The plans show six decks with color-coding for First, Tourist, and "Tween-Deck" which appears to be a dormitory-style Third Class. Non-color-coded are troop barracks in the forward hold.

First Class would have been the only way to cross on the CAMBODGE. Five different public rooms on E Deck along with a swimming pool, a spacious Dining Saloon with French cuisine down B Deck, and large cabins with private verandahs on D Deck - who could ask for more? By the way, M.M. named their decks backwards from most lines. The topmost deck was F while the lowest was A. The plan is undated but probably is from the 1950s.

A special feature are nine large interior photos plus a portrait at sea showing off the CAMBODGE's handsome combo-ship lines. Black and white views from First Class show the Writing Room, Dining Saloon, Lounge, Smoking Room, Bar, Swimming Pool, and a cabin deluxe. Tourist Class photos show a two-berth cabin and the Lounge.

While Messageries Maritimes rarely sailed the CAMBODGE to America, her next owner did. Many ship fans will know her after a major rebuild in 1970 by Sun Lines - STELLA SOLARIS.

Good condition w/ light discoloration.
