FRANCE.

The Patio was a unique inner courtyard up on Sun Deck with six inner single cabins and two inner suites facing a private open air space. The French Line dolled it up with wrought iron gates and window grilles, fake clay roof tiles and brick-like flooring. Each cabin had an entrance from the hall and from the Patio.

The French Line decorated each Patio door with this heavy 5" by 7" door knocker consisting of a wrought iron ring attached to bronze hinges at top and a bronze knocker plate at the bottom. It was non-functional as the knocker is permanently attached to the bronze fittings. The knocker still has splashes of the original blue door paint on the backside.

When the ship became the NORWAY, a swimming pool on a new deck was plunked into the space. But to let in light, the cabin windows were not blocked off, although the view was now the side of the pool. When the ship went to the breakers, a FRANCE buff secured this souvenir from the good old days.

Very good condition.

https://nautiques.net/en-ca/products/france-1962-original-wrought-iron-knocker-from-first-class-patio-doors
