The ship had taken its maiden voyage as P&O's MONGOLIA back in 1924. There is no date on this sixteen-page brochure, but it must be either 1950 or 1951 when long time shipping magnate Arnold Bernstein chartered the EUROPA for a series of Caribbean cruises out of New York.

In the center of the brochure is a big four panel portrait of the ship which shows her to very much be a child of the early 1920s. There are several interior photos showing the bar, dining room, a cabin, and several deck scenes. The ad copy hypes the cheap cost of liquor so you can imagine that Bernstein was aiming for a young and party-going crowd.

Apparently Incres liked Bernstein's idea because in the fall of 1951 they sent the ship in for a further retrofit. She emerged as the white-hulled, twin-pooled NASSAU The ship then became a pioneer in the New York cruise market during the 1950s.

Good condition.

https://nautiques.net/en-ca/products/europa-1924-rare-cruise-brochure-from-early-1950s-later-became-nassau
