In mid-September 1940, just weeks after the war started, ninety children and other passengers boarded for a voyage to the safety of Canada. Four days in, the ship was torpedoed at night in heavy seas. Lifeboats were swamped and only thirteen of the ninety children survived. Britain quickly ceased the evacuation of minors by sea.

Very good condition.

Matson Lines: An eight page interiors brochure with deck plans from 1965 for the LURLINE.
