So here is the final STELLA POLARIS brochure - a beautiful twenty-page effort with gold trimmed covers protected by a clear plastic slipcover. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eInside is a letter from the company president explaining why the ship is back in service, and color photos of the ship's interiors. Some of the decor is decidedly 1960s but behind the walnut and rayon are the original designs. Also included are itineraries, rates, and route maps. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAn inserted plan shows five decks. All the smallish cabins of the past are gone, replaced with large staterooms and suites with private baths. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe cruises end in September 1969, and by the end of October the ship was sold to become a floating hotel in Japan. After sailing the world's oceans for forty-two years, this deluxe brochure is a fitting final tribute to the old gal. Too bad that a 2006 effort to stabilize the faded vessel and tow her back to Sweden for restoration ended up with the ship sinking within hours of leaving the dock.
